Make sure you come out and witness the marvelous sand sculptures at this year’s Labor Day Sand Sculpture Contest 2015 in Ocean Isle Beach. Read all about this annual event!

Where: Monroe Street Beach Access, 44 East 1st Street, Ocean Isle Beach

When: Saturday, Sept. 5, 10:30 a.m.–1 p.m.

Contact: Ocean Isle Property Owners Association

Participants choose one of two divisions

1. Children—must be 13 years old or under. Adult assistance is not allowed to those entered in the children-only divisions.

2. Family—can have up to 4 adults and an unlimited number of children on their team

Contest Guidelines

  • Sculpting is not permitted before 10:30 a.m.
  • There are no restrictions on the subject matter of the sand sculptures.
  • Material used in sculptures must be found on the beach. However, items can be found prior to the competition.
  • Participants must bring their own sculpting tools.
  • Sculptures can remain after the contest ends.

Perhaps you’d rather marvel at the intricately crafted sand sculptures at the annual Labor Day Sand Sculpture Contest.     26th Annual Oak Island Art Guild Arts & Crafts Festival

    What: This all-day extravaganza hosts more than 140 artists and vendors showcasing fine art, jewelry, photography, woodcarvings and more! Food will also be available for purchase.

    Oak Island Labor Day Surf Off

    What: Surfers of all ages and levels come together for the annual Surf Off! Participants are welcome to compete in the short board division, longboard division, women’s masters and senior men and guppies (ages 9 and below). You can also expect a body board competition and paddle board race!

    When: Saturday, Sept. 5, begins at 8 a.m.
