Built on the eve of the Civil War, the Bellamy Mansion still stands today. What was built as a home for John Dillard Bellamy, his wife and nine children, now serves as a historical museum. Gardens and magnolia trees surround the 10,000-square foot home. Get a glimpse into the past when you tour the Mansion as well as the restored Slave Quarters.

A gem of Wilmington’s cultural and political heritage, Thalian Hall is one of the oldest performing arts theaters in the United States. Thalian Hall was a place for entertainment during the Civil War. After lending its stage to artists like Lillian Russell, Buffalo Bill Cody and Joseph Johnson, several renovations were made throughout the 20th century. Now Thalian Hall hosts 422 annual events and is looking to expand and renovate the historic hall. Thalian Hall is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Poplar Grove Plantation is the location of one of the oldest surviving peanut plantations in North Carolina as well as the Manor House—a site recognized on the National Register of Historic Places. Poplar Grove Plantation was home to the Foy family for over five generations. Guides in period attire lead you through the 1850-era manor house.
